NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Datadog, the essential monitoring service for modern cloud environments, today announced its completion of the Docker Certification Program, a framework for partners to certify their technology to the Docker Enterprise Edition (EE) commercial platform. Datadog falls under the Certified Container category of the Docker Certification Program, as an Independent Software Vendor (ISV) that is able to package and distribute its software directly to the end user, and can be purchased through the Docker Store.

“We would like to congratulate Datadog on their completion of the Docker Certification Program,” said Marianna Tessel, EVP, Strategic Development. “Enterprise IT teams are looking to Docker to provide recommendations and assurances on the ecosystem of container content, infrastructure and extensions. Datadog’s inclusion into the program indicates that the Datadog container monitoring agent has been tested and verified by Docker, confirming for customers that container images have been evaluated for security and are supported and built according to best practices."

Datadog also recently announced Service Discovery, a feature that enables engineering teams to automatically track the health and performance of their containerized applications as they are launched. Docker containers are built for applications that scale rapidly and release often, making for highly dynamic environments that are difficult to manually track and monitor.

“Our Service Discovery functionality automatically identifies which services are running in Docker containers, and applies the relevant monitoring configuration to collect metrics from those services,” said Ilan Rabinovitch, Director of Technical Community. “This monitoring automation enables teams to seamlessly monitor containerize applications and infrastructure without interruption as it expands, contracts, and shifts across hosts.”

According to Datadog’s Docker Adoption Research, Docker market share has grown 30% in one year, with larger enterprise companies leading adoption. The report was based on a sample of 10,000 companies and tracks real usage, making it the largest and most accurate review of Docker adoption published to date. Moreover, two-thirds of companies that try Docker go on to adopt it, and the typical organization quintuples Docker usage within nine months. These statistics demonstrate that containerization is solving real, immediate problems for companies at scale.
