Foundation Enablement: Database Monitoring | Datadog

About This Session

Datadog Database Monitoring allows you to view query metrics and explain plans from all your databases in one place. With Database Monitoring, you can quickly pinpoint costly and slow queries and drill into precise execution details to address bottlenecks. Additionally, query and host metric correlation makes it easy to identify and understand the impact of resource constraints on database performance.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand how to configure Datadog's Database Monitoring (DBM) product and where to find basic telemetry associated with the performance of your databases.
  • Explain how DBM can be correlated with Application Performance Monitoring (APM) traces to show the impact of database queries on application performance.
  • Differentiate between normalized queries and sampled queries, and understand when to use them in investigations.
  • Analyze historical performance using query metrics, and create visualizations and alerts to highlight issues.
