CCPA readiness with Datadog

The implementation date for the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) is January 1, 2020. The CCPA establishes certain rights that California residents will have regarding their personal information, including the right:

  1. to know what personal information a business has collected about them,
  2. to know whether/to whom the information has been sold and to opt out of its sale,
  3. to access the personal information that has been collected,
  4. to have the business delete their personal information, and
  5. to receive equal service even if they exercise their personal information rights.

Datadog has reviewed the Act and is prepared, as a service provider, to both assist our customers fulfill their obligations under the CCPA and to respond to California residents that exercise their rights.

How does the CCPA apply to Datadog?

Under the CCPA, some of our customers will be considered businesses subject to the CCPA and as to such customers, Datadog will be considered a service provider.

How has Datadog prepared for the CCPA?

Datadog has been reviewing our internal processes, meeting with industry experts, and updating our procedures, as needed, and we will make available to customers upon request, our CCPA Addendum that our customers may use to fulfill their obligations under the CCPA.

How will the CCPA affect Datadog customers?

Datadog is a monitoring service for infrastructure and applications. As such, the service is not intended to transfer, process, use, or store personal information. If customers expect to send personal information (for example, as part of custom metrics, request traces, or application logs), they can be assured that Datadog takes data protection seriously and can assist them to fulfill their obligations under the CCPA. How can I submit a data subject request under the CCPA?

Datadog intakes Data Subject Rights Requests via Datadog’s Online Intake Form and emails received via privacy@datadoghq.com.

How can Datadog assist customers in meeting their CCPA obligations?

As a service provider, Datadog cooperates with customers seeking to fulfill their own obligations. This cooperation includes:forwarding to customer requests from California residents attempting to exercise their rights providing to customers information responsive to CCPA requests they receive replying to investigations and inquiries from appropriate authorities, such as the California Attorney General maintaining appropriate policies and procedures, such as data breach notification, security awareness training, data classification and inventory processes, etc.
